I say "family" the same way pool is a family of separate games like 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball. Caroms also has several different popular games (many of which originated in America but only got popular elsewhere). So, in coming to understand how in the cue sports there are these vastly different families of games, I got to wonder which country boasts the greatest proficiency in all three? Pool is really only the beginning of the world of cue sports. The 2024 WPBA Raxx Mezz Invitational, held at the Raxx Pool Room, Sports Bar & Grill in West Hempstead, New York, marked the WPBA's return to New York after nearly two decades. The 2024 WPBA Olhausen Colorado Classic, held at Felt Billiards & Bar in Denver, showcased a dazzling display of skill and competition from September 26th to 29th. With a strong field of 64 international competitors, this tournament featured intense matches and highlighted the rise of new talents in women's professional billiards. Advani had a lead of 4-2 in the best of nine frame match and was 35 points to 0 ahead in the seventh frame to be on the cusp of a shock result against the player who had already won four ranking events this season.

The ranking point allocation was later revised slightly with winners of all bar the World Championship now receiving six points, runners-up five, down to one point for the last 32; the World Championship more or less stayed as it was with ten points for the winner, incrementally reduced by two points for each preceding round, but now awarded one point for the last 32 in line with the other tournaments. In addition to ranking points, merit and frame points were also awarded which were used as a tie-break when players were on equal ranking points. While the ranking point allocations have undergone modifications down the years the basic system remained the same up until the 2009-10 season. They actually do not run as much as the Blizzard or the Glory (two points if you can name where these teams are from), but they have a lot of players who can get out and run. Altogether Albin has 40 Austrian National Championships to his name. Lechner Maximilian is a professional Austrian pool player. In 2008 Maximilian became junior WPA World Nine-ball Champion. Likewise, in the same year, he clinched straight and 8-ball European Junior Championship. This week the Columbus Quest and the Richmond Rage swept their playoff series to move into the American Basketball League's premier Championship Series.
